What are hair extensions?

Hair extensions are strands or wefts of synthetic or human hair that are attached to your natural hair to add volume, length, color or all three. There are various methods available, the method chosen for you depends on your preference, lifestyle, health of hair and desired end result.

Are hair extensions damaging to natural hair?

When applied properly and cared for correctly, hair extensions should not cause damage to your natural hair. However, improper installation that can cause excessive tensions or neglecting maintenance can cause damage. Applied by a professional is the best way to avoid any damage to your natural hair & following a proper at home care routine is important to ensure you have longevity with the extensions you purchase.

I have hair loss and don't know what options I have to help me feel good about how I look.

Hair loss is something I don't think many can ever get use to going through without feeling not like themselves. The 2 options I offer gives you the option to visit the salon regularly or not.

Mesh Integration unlike a wig or hair extensions is a method that attached to your hair partially. This allows you to go through your day to day and style as you would your natural hair. You would visit me 6-8 weeks at a time to refit.

Custom wigs give full head coverage and is taken off daily. They're made to your specifications to ensure comfortable fit.

What do I need at home to ensure I have the best experience with the method chosen?

You'll be given a few things to get you started and to be successful. But here is an idea of what is best to use or hae at home

Professional products are always recommended because the hair used although human hair goes through a process to ensure quality, pro products maintain the integrity of the hair so you can have longevity.
Satin pillowcase & satin head scarf, these 2 items do 2 different things. The pillowcase ensures your hair strands stay smooth and shiny, cotton pillowcases cause more friction on the hair strand that can cause premature matting. A satin head scarf is used to tie your hair down at night to secure the hair in place and not cause unknown friction in the scalp area where the extension is attached.
Wet Brush brand is best to detangle without it snagging or pulling on the hair.
Light moisturizing oil to use daily on the ends of the hair extensions.

Can hair extensions be applied to post-chemotherapy hair growth?

Yes, hair extensions can be applied to post chemo hair! Some methods of hair extensions are a great choice for growing out hair as long as the new growth is 4 inches or more in length. Mesh Integration is a method designed for post-chemo hair growth.

What are the most common methods of hair extensions application?

There are many methods as well as brands that sell hair extensions, all which vary in quality, safety & ethics. The most popular methods are:

Individual strand by strand application known as K-tip, I-tip, Micro Links, Brazilian Knots: these methods use various tools to attach to the natural hair from heat tools to beads.
Tape-in: this method uses a high-quality adhesive used to sandwich your natural hair between the tape in extension hair.
Wefts: hand-tied, natural beaded rows, sew-in, braided, glued are all methods using wefts of hair, beads, thread and needles. Braided technique braids your natural hair and sews the weft onto the braided rows, glued uses an adhesive to glue the wefts the parting between your natural hair.
Clip-in: uses metal clips that are attached to the the wefts and clip to your natural hair.

What hair extension methods does Stitch Hair Studio offer?

After many years of trial and error, the methods I believe are tried and true are Beaded Rows (aka Hand-tied) & K-tip as semi-permanent hair extensions that are great for thinning hair.

Ready to wear extensions are also some of the best I find for anyone not able to or wanting to visit the salon as frequently are, Clip-in, Halo hair extensions & Topper, these are ready to wear methods that you can put on and take off daily at home.

Do you offer payment plans if I cannot pay upfront?

Yes, payment plans are available if needed. That can be discussed during your consultation. Once payment is paid in full, we can move forward in ordering your hair extensions and scheduling your install appointment.
